Torna

Torna Fort also known as Prachandagad is a massive fort in Pune district. Historically this fort is very significant as it was the very first fort conquered by Shivaji in 1643 at the age of sixteen. By conquering this fort he established his Maratha Empire which later on made all the enemies of Maratha restless including Aadil Shah and Nijam Shah. Original name of the fort is Prachanda Gad. Prachanda means huge and Gad means Fort in Marathi.
